2019 International Symposium:
Managed Retreat as a Counter Measure against Disasters with a Diversity and Gender Perspective

The main purpose of this symposium is to review and discuss about the structural protection measures as well as extensive implementation of non-structural “managed retreat” in the recovery from tsunami, flood and other forms of natural disasters in Japan, the United States, Nepal, the Philippines and other Asian countries, in particular with a gender and diversity perspective. The results of the discussions will be shared with the American audience in Washington D.C. in March 2020 with further policy recommendations for disaster risk reduction.
